“Poison or Power” Blog #247

What is the biggest thing holding me back today?

When will I stop making excuses for myself?

Where do I find my internal protected power?

If my life is not working for me, do I understand I must take 100% responsibility for changing

it up to a higher, less stressful life? ONLY I CAN change this with a plan. There was a

beautiful movie I watched a while back where a nanny down south was responsible for

daily watching a little five year old girl. Her mother was too involved in social minutiae. At

any rate, every single morning the movie showed what an impact this nanny had on the

five year old girl by holding her tightly when she awoke in the morning. The nanny

repeated back and forth and instructed the little girl to repeat after her, “I is kind. I is smart.

I is important”. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we each had someone in our life who told us this

from early on? I also reflect on one of my favorite writers, Marianne Williamson. In her book

“Return to Love” , she writes about our deepest fear. “Our deepest fear is not that we are

inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not

our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, talented

and fabulous? Actually who are you not to be? You are a child of God. There is nothing

enlightening about shrinking so other people won’t feel insecure around you. You are

meant to shine as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God within us.

It’s not just in some people, it’s in every one of us. So as we let our own light shine, we

unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As each one of us become

liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates other people.”

So what exactly poisons our individual power? Let’s just start with Social Media. Social

Media can have a huge negative impact on our mental heath. Why is this? Many factors

are being blamed. Comparing oneself to others, listening and watching what total

strangers negatively stream to you, and constant streaming of negative news. Sadly this

dark poison on the internet robs each of us of our own personal power. This leads to

addiction, depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. Even the games on the internet are

dark, depressing and full of violence. Take this kind of energy in day after day and watch

what happens to a persons psyche. Poison or Power for me?

Here is a true story of King Louis the 16th of France. His amazing 16 year old son, the Prince

was taken away by those who dethroned the King. There was much fear the son would try

to take over for his father, the King. So those in charge, took him away and decided they

were going to destroy him morally. They took him to a community where the young teen

was exposed to every filthy and vile thing that life could offer. They tried to feed him the

richest foods to make him a slave to his appetite. They exposed him to lewd, lusty and sex-

filled young women. Dishonor and distrust was all around him. He was surrounded 24

hours a day to everything that could drag the soul of a person as low as they could fall.

For over six months they gave the young Prince this horrific treatment. Finally after all this

intensive temptation, those in charge questioned him. “Why did you never partake in

anything that was given to you? These things were meant to give you pleasure, satisfy all

your lust and provide the ultimate pleasure that could only be yours. the young boy spoke

quietly, “I cannot do what you have asked, for I was born to be a King”. All that poison put

before him and yet he retained his inner power. He knew who he was.

Can I reject the poison around me and find my inner power today?
