“My Health?“ Blog #243

Do I keep track of what goes into my body daily?

When will I know healthy eating is transformative?

What does it mean, “My body is the Temple of God?”

There is a very cool app any person can download on the internet. It is called “Yuka” -

great food scanner. One amazing advantage to using Yuka is it shows “how healthy” food

really is, based on the ingredients it contains! Best of all, it assigns a “health score” to

each of the products. So this just may be a start for those of us out there who want to eat

right and stay healthy. Benefits of a healthy lifestyle are living longer with less chance of

disease, rotten teeth and internal problems. Eating healthy food and drinking lots of water

daily plus getting at least 30 minutes of exercise (outside is best) brings a person way

ahead of most! Researchers have found drinking flavored water vs. Diet Pepsi or a soda is

far healthier. With colas and sodas falling out of favor due to health concerns, beverage

makers are trying to pump up interest in carbonated waters that offer flavor without a

heavy dose of sugar! More articles are written about our mood swings, depression and

overall mental being. Tools I have mentioned above can improve a person’s mood swing,

combat anxiety, anger and impulsivity. Starting my day with deep breathing and prayer is

so necessary. Just to connect and know I have my guardian angel with me helps me

make good decisions. I am never alone. Remember that. I am never alone. It’s my

decision TODAY to discipline my decisions, so no need to give in to unhealthy habits.

Before breakfast, I am squeezing a half lemon into my large bottle of water which is so

refreshing. Just drinking water with a ½ lemon is detoxing and gets things moving. I have

learned a good recipe for how much water to drink daily for myself is. I take my body

weight - divide it in half and this is how many oz. of water I need to drink daily. Noticing,

when I try to eliminate sugar from my daily diet, my immunity is boosted against sickness

and disease. I feel less sluggish, with depression at a low. During the week we eat lots of

salads for dinner. We have hard boiled eggs, boiled new potatoes, a vegetable like

asparagus, broccoli, avocado, red onion, radishes, and baby red and yellow tomatoes.

honey roasted chopped pecans & feta cheese. All this tossed with Balsamic vinegar then

sprinkled over, a little olive oil and for more flavoring pomegranate molasses. Often we

add a protein to top it off. Many more things can be put on it. You might also search up

the “Harvest Salad” which is our favorite now fall has arrived. Today I remind myself once

again,I am learning to love myself, for my body is the Temple of God. Not only does the

Holy Spirit dwell within me I try to understand my body IS the Temple of the Holy Spirit. As a

Christian, I treat others with respect, dignity and abide in truth. I think about how I interact

with others…..am I judgmental? Am I kind? Am I loving? Love is the answer. I know Jesus is

helping me with all this.

Can I try today and focus on love and my good health?
