“Calm or Chaos” Blog #245

What is it I seek today, are my thoughts filled with calm or chaos?

Do I learn to be content amidst noise, restless energy, dis-ease near me?

Can I “will myself” into a few moments of quiet solitude?

It’s hard to admit within my lifetime, the first television came in to place. Now there is

social media technology consuming us. Any information, should I want, it can be found

not just on Google or various other apps, but AI. Super Intelligence has taken over. On my

phone now, I can FaceTime my family and friends in an instant. Is this better? How often

do I use my phone to put in a number and actually call someone rather than text them?

I believe we live in a socialized, secular society. Churches are getting emptier and anger,

hate and blame thrive. So, where DO I go to find my own immediate peace, truth and

love? A calm place is needed instantly just as much as “instant messaging”. What if I told

you there is a place TO GO TO NOW….SAFELY?

This takes discipline. It also takes the energy to find a quiet moment inside your home,

your car or outside and start with some long, deep breaths. The chaos stops now. After

the long, deep breaths, I silently say, “thank you Lord for leading me into peaceful, quiet,

calm.” Then I sit and wait a few moments. My busy mind does not always like this. It

takes some work to calm self down. More deep breaths and another silent prayer, “thank

you Lord for showing me where I need to be right now”. I wait and feel less pressure, less

anxiety, less need to hurry. If I do nothing but breathe in and out, over and over many

times, I am calming my body down at a good rate. I say to myself, “this too shall pass, this

too shall pass”.

Did you know millions of people all over the world have had one similar experience? They

have all had near-death experiences. Although these people live in all parts of the world,

all different countries throughout the world, their shared experiences are profound. Each

person has spoken about when their heart stopped and for a short period of time they felt

themself hovering over their body. They felt such peace, they could see everything around

them, but in such quiet peace. Then just before they were brought back into their bodies

from a “clinical death”, they all spoke of witnessing “realms of wonder”. They felt the

captivating love of God and powerful presence of such amazing love, not one person

wanted to leave.

In one particular book by John Burke, “Imagine the God of Heaven”, Dr. Richard Eby was a

medical doctor and a surgeon. He fell head first from a two story building and cracked his

skull wide open. Miraculously, after ten hours he was revived. During his near-death

experience, Dr. Eby said, “Jesus and I walked in heaven together. Yet, it was more like flying

than walking. We were talking while suspended in mid air, communication is so far

superior than anything we can ever imagine down here. Space is also limitless”. More and

more encounters of the same thing. An airline pilot had a near death encounter. He told

how he was walking with angels, beauty he could not have fathomed. Story after story

from people all over the world. This is no coincidence. These are truthful stories. I believe

there is a beautiful connection to my inner world with Jesus. I just slow down and begin to

breathe. I feel an inner peace take over my entire being replacing all chaos with calm.

Can I find a moment amidst my chaotic day and connect to Christ light calm?
